This sequence of training videos* is designed to help teachers gain confidence in creating programs for the BBC micro:bit using the Mr Bit Plain English method.  Each video shows micro:bit programs at work and explains every step in creating a program so that viewers can copy the process and use it with their own micro:bits.

Training workshops for teachers

* Based on live and online workshops conducted in Leicestershire schools 2023/24.

• Display a text message, an image and an animated image.
• Use button inputs to achieve a variety of effects.
• Control the display times on the micro:bit LEDs.
• Use the micro:bit’s microphone as a sound sensor input.

• Build a sequence of instructions displaying text, images and animations.
• Use a variety of ‘gesture’ inputs based on the micro:bit’s accelerometer.
• Create code for playing musical tones in the micro:bit’s mini speaker.
• Control an external set of traffic light LEDs.

• Create an ‘up and down’ counter with numerical and bar graph display.
• Step counter, shadow counter and clap counter programs.
• Create a 2-bar graph display and X-Y point graph control.
• Build a sound meter and light meter with numerical and graph display.
